Barbie Traveler
Written by Suzanne on November 6, 2008The kiddo has been playing with her Barbie dolls again and they were in need of an RV. The most recent vehicles are fully loaded with a hot tub, or rigged for the Barbie Rock Band. My daughter said none of her Barbies were rich so it wouldn’t make sense for them to own either of those. So, I searched the net and found a vintage camper, the same style I played with as a kid.
This got me thinking about the 90’s dance pop band Aqua. Whatever happened to those guys after their hit single Barbie Girl? Turns out Mattel filed a lawsuit over the song, and it was dismissed in 2002 with the judge stating, “The parties are advised to chill.”
Aqua split up in July 2001.
The King of Parody, “Weird Al” Yankovich, did a spoof called Ugly Girl. There are a lot of homemade vids to both songs, most of them quite disturbing. The most recent and official video for the song Barbie Girl is made by The Samanda Twins from British Big Brother fame.
Who knew? Here they are filming the now “official video” while oohing and ahhing over all the pink.

I had forgotten about the Barbie Girl song. I have to admit that I’ve never got quite that excited about the color pink.

That pink is pretty on there but I hardly every get too much of it. It seems too bright and cheerful for all the depressing stuff going on. Same with yellow.
